Abstract
The leaf essential oil of wild Melissa officinalis s. l. from three localities in Greece was analyzed by GC and GC-MS. The leaf oils contained β-pinene (6.4–18.2%), sabinene (6.9–17.4%), (E)-caryophyllene (7.2–15.3%) and caryophyllene oxide (12.6–24.4%) as major constituents and was characterized by the absence of citral and citronellal.
