Abstract
Peak luminance, deep black and gray scale are impactful attributes in High Dynamic Range (HDR). The current paper suggests new measurement methods such as peak luminance, deep black and gray scale to evaluate HDR. LCD TV had a tendency to decrease the peak luminance when the size of peak area is small. However, OLED TV was able to be unchanged peak luminance in small peak area. Additionally, OLED TV had lower black luminance than LCD TV irrespective of images. The luminance error that the difference between PQ curve and measured curve OLED TV was 3%, LCD TV was 31~32%. A subjective evaluation was carried out to verify the suggested methods and the results show the suggested methods can explain well the HDR performance based on human visual system.
