Abstract
This paper describes the various frugal and sustainable practices followed in a middle-class household in Kerala, the south-western state of India. The need of the hour is to provide methods that promote the use of sustainable practices. An automated watering technique for household gardening, and a low-cost grid-independent biomass gasification stove that uses coconut husks have been proposed in this paper.
