Abstract
A novel thermally stable fluorescent molecular switch with [2 + 2] photocycloaddication and cycloreversion and its application in 2D and 3D optical data storage were demonstrated. The reversibility of the photochemical reaction in the solid state was effectively improved by introducing a dipole into the molecular system.
