Abstract
Assembly of octahedral cobalt(II) ion with semirigid exobidentate ligand 1,4-bis(benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)-2,3,5,6-tetramethylbenzene L affords coordination polymer [CoL3](ClO4)2, 1, which was revealed by X-ray single-crystal structural analysis to have a 2D open network with unusual (3, 6) topology.
