Abstract
Persistent blue-to-purple solutions of the complexes M[S4C4(CN)4], M(mnt)2, M = Ni, Pd, Pt have for the first time been prepared by anodic electrolysis. Solids isolated from more concentrated solutions of the Ni and Pd complexes quantitatively form the corresponding monoanions when dissolved in weakly basic solvents. Pt[S4C4(CN)4] is a strong one-electron oxidant. All three complexes react with norbornadiene yielding electroactive products.
