Abstract
Dipyrido[4,3-b;5,6-b]acridine and its 1,2-dihydro and 1,2,7,8-tetrahydro derivatives have been synthesized, and the corresponding [RuL2](PF6)2 complexes of these ligands have been prepared. The 1H NMR chemical shifts and the photochemical and electrochemical properties of these complexes can be closely correlated with incremental changes in structure which relate to increasing delocalization of the ligands.
