Abstract
The isolation of minor isomers of [84]fullerene (C84), five in total, and their characterization by 13C NMR spectroscopy, have been reported for the first time. The vis−near-infrared absorption spectra for these isomers are also reported. The 13C NMR results indicate that the isolated C84 isomers have, in order of decreasing abundance, C2, Cs(a), Cs(b), D2d(I), and D2(II) molecular point group symmetry. In addition, we have found another C84 minor isomer adjacent to Cs(b)-C84 in the HPLC chromatogram.
