Abstract
The global and statistical properties of a representative heterogeneous sample of 51 narrow-angle-tail (NAT) sources in Abell clusters, as well as those of a homogeneous subsample of 39 NATs, are investigated. NATs are equally likely to be found in clusters of any Bautz-Morgan type. The observed distribution of projected distances from the cluster centers is consistent with that expected for an isothermal King model with a core radius of 170 kpc (H0 = 75 km s-1Mpc-1), and does not depend on relative optical dominance. The present results are consistent with the hypothesis that the morphology of NATs is due to the galaxy's motion through the intracluster medium but the results do not distinguish between the detailed models.
