Abstract
Photographic BV photometry and objective-prism spectral classifications for 57 O-B5 stars in a 12.14 sq deg field centered on (l,b) = (268,0) are used to explore OB associations. The results confirm the presence of the associations Vel OB1, OB2, and OB3, and reveal the presence of a fourth association (Vel OB4) at r = 1.0 + or - 0.1 kpc with a mean E(B-v) = 1.0 + or - 0.3. It is noted that the present line of sight may be useful for studies of the distant structure of the galactic disk in this direction.
