Early CCD Observations of the Halo of Halley's Comet
Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific1985Vol. 97, pp. 1011–1011
Abstract
We present CCD observations of comet Halley made on 1985 February 16 when the comet was at a distance of 4.90 AU from the sun. The comet was beginning to show a diffuse image, with approximately half the light in the diffuse component which extended to 6 arc sec on the sun-facing side of the nucleus.
