Intergalactic Clouds
The Astrophysical Journal1970Vol. 160, pp. 793–793
Abstract
The intergalactic medinm in clusters of galaxies may be thermally unstable. Intergalactic clouds form, at temperatures in the range 2.5 X 10 to 10' K. Observational consequences include an interpretation of the multiple absorption redshifts found in the spectra of some quasi-stellar sources. Recent observations of diffuse X-rays are used to set limits on the amount of uncondensed intracluster gas.
