Abstract
VLA observations to flux density levels below 2 mJy are presented for 69 optically discovered quasars. These results are combined with existing data to consider the radio properties of 228 optically discovered quasars. Nineteen have been detected as radio sources. The differential function Phi of the ratio of radio (5000 MHz) to optical (2500 A) flux density appears flat for low radio-to-optical ratio. About 2% of all quasars in any bin of width Delta log radio-to-optical ratio = 0.4 are radio sources. About 12% of all quasars are radio sources at levels above log radio-to-optical ratio = 0.8. There do not appear to be significant differences in absolute luminosity, apparent optical magnitude, or redshift for radio-strong, compared to radio-quiet, quasars.
