Abstract
Amphibola crenata (Gmelin) has a well-developed planktonic veliger stage which remains in the plankton for several weeks and feeds actively. It resembles an opisthobranch veliger with a sinistral shell and conspicuous black larval kidney. After metamorphosis the pitch of the coil of the shell is altered so that the body whorl grows, over the larval whorls and produces a dextrally coiled adult shell with an internal protoconch.
