Survey of the (α,He2) reaction on1p- and2s1d-shell nuclei

Abstract
A $^{2}\mathrm{He}$ detection system has been developed and used to investigate the ($\ensuremath{\alpha}$, $^{2}\mathrm{He}$) reaction at bombarding energies of 55 and 65 MeV on targets of $^{12}\mathrm{C}$, $^{13}\mathrm{C}$, $^{14}\mathrm{N}$, $^{15}\mathrm{N}$, $^{16}\mathrm{O}$, $^{18}\mathrm{O}$, $^{20}\mathrm{Ne}$, $^{22}\mathrm{Ne}$, $^{24}\mathrm{Mg}$, $^{26}\mathrm{Mg}$, $^{28}\mathrm{Si}$, $^{29}\mathrm{Si}$, $^{32}\mathrm{S}$, $^{36}\mathrm{Ar}$, $^{38}\mathrm{Ar}$, and $^{40}\mathrm{Ca}$. Preferential population of two-neutron states with dominant ${{({d}_{\frac{5}{2}})}^{2}}_{4}$, ${({d}_{\frac{3}{2}}{f}_{\frac{7}{2}})}_{5}$, and ${{({f}_{\frac{7}{2}})}^{2}}_{6}$ character was observed. A linear $A$ dependence of the binding energies of the ${J}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}={5}^{\ensuremath{-}} \mathrm{and} {6}^{+}$ states was obtained. This systematic behavior is well described by the Bansal-French model, using the parameters $a=\ensuremath{-}0.30$ MeV and $b=2.6$ MeV. Simple shell-model calculations for the $2n$ configurations are in good agreement with the experimental data.NUCLEAR REACTIONS $^{12}\mathrm{C}$, $^{13}\mathrm{C}$, $^{14}\mathrm{N}$, $^{15}\mathrm{N}$, $^{16}\mathrm{O}$, $^{18}\mathrm{O}$, $^{20}\mathrm{Ne}$, $^{22}\mathrm{Ne}$, $^{26}\mathrm{Mg}$, $^{28}\mathrm{Si}$, $^{29}\mathrm{Si}$, $^{32}\mathrm{S}$, $^{36}\mathrm{Ar}$, $^{38}\mathrm{Ar}(\ensuremath{\alpha}, ^{2}\mathrm{He})$, $E=65$ MeV and $^{24}\mathrm{Mg}$, $^{40}\mathrm{Ca}(\ensuremath{\alpha}, ^{2}\mathrm{He})$, $E=55$ MeV. Measured $\ensuremath{\sigma}({E}_{f}, \ensuremath{\theta})$, deduced ${E}_{x}$ and ${J}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}$ systematics.
