Abstract
It is shown that the Fierz reshuffling symmetry of the $V\ensuremath{-}A$ interaction combined with current algebra and partial conservation of axial-vector current provides a reasonable explanation for the $\ensuremath{\Delta}I=\frac{1}{2}$ rule in the framework of the three-triplet model with fermion quarks. This explanation can be distinguished from that based on an ad hoc boson quark assumption by studying whether the parity-violating $\ensuremath{\Delta}Y=0$ nuclear transitions contain a significant $\ensuremath{\Delta}I=2$ part.
