Abstract
Using date from ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ annihilation into hadrons taken on the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S)$ and continuum, we are able to compare event properties of three-gluon ($\mathrm{ggg}$) and quark-antiquark ($q\overline{q}$) decays. By tagging radiative decays of the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(3S)$ to the ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{b}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ states, we can make comparisons of the ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{b}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ event shapes with continuum and $\mathrm{ggg}$ decays of the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S)$. Contrary to the notion that two-gluon ($\mathrm{gg}$) events are globally very similar to $q\overline{q}$ jets, we infer from a study of the ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{b}^{\ensuremath{'}}(J=0 or 2)$ states that gg event shapes more closely resemble $\mathrm{ggg}$ decays of the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S)$, whereas $q\overline{q}g$ decays of the ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{b}^{\ensuremath{'}}(J=1)$ state more closely resemble $q\overline{q}$ continuum events in their decay characteristics.
