Properties of thea0(980)meson

Abstract
Events of the type ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{p}n\ensuremath{\eta}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{p}n\ensuremath{\eta}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ at $18\mathrm{GeV}/c$ are analyzed. The mass and width of the neutral and charged ${a}_{0}(980)$ were determined. The neutral ${a}_{0}$ is found to have a mass of $(0.991\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.0025)\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}$ and a width of $(0.069\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.011)\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}.$ A partial wave analysis technique yields $(0.9983\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.0040)$ and $(0.072\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.010)\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}$ for the mass and width of the charged ${a}_{0}.$
