Abstract
The differential cross section for the process ${p(e,e}^{\ensuremath{'}}p)\ensuremath{\eta}$ has been measured at ${Q}^{2}=2.4$ and 3.6 $(\mathrm{GeV}{/c)}^{2}$ at center-of-mass energies encompassing the ${S}_{11}(1535)$ resonance. The latter point is the highest-${Q}^{2}$ exclusive measurement of this process to date. The resonance width and the helicity-1/2 transition amplitude are extracted from the data, and evidence for the possible onset of scaling in this reaction is shown. A lower bound of $\ensuremath{\approx}0.45$ is placed on the ${S}_{11}(1535)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\ensuremath{\eta}$ branching fraction.
