Abstract
We present measurements of the ${B}^{+}$ meson total cross section and differential cross section $d\ensuremath{\sigma}{/dp}_{T}.$ The measurements use a $98\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}4$ ${\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ sample of $p\overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.8 \mathrm{TeV}$ collected by the CDF detector. Charged B meson candidates are reconstructed through the decay ${B}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}{K}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ with $J/\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{\ensuremath{\psi}}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{-}}.$ The total cross section, measured in the central rapidity region $|y|<1.0$ for ${p}_{T}(B)>6.0 \mathrm{GeV}/c,$ is $3.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.6(\mathrm{stat}\ensuremath{\bigoplus} \mathrm{syst}) \ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{b}.$ The measured differential cross section is substantially larger than typical QCD predictions calculated to next-to-leading order.
