Experimental study ofηcdecays into vector-vector final states

Abstract
Using 58 million $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ events accumulated with the BES II detector, branching fractions for the ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}VV$ decays, ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\rho}$, ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{*}{\overline{K}}^{*}$, ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega}$, and ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\phi}$, are measured. The branching fractions are $Br({\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\rho})=(1.23\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.37\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.50)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}2}$, $Br({\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{*}{\overline{K}}^{*})=(10.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}4.3)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$, $Br({\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega})<6.3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ (90% C.L.), and $Br({\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\phi})=(2.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$. The process ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\phi}$ is also searched for, and the 90% C.L. upper limit $Br({\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\phi})<1.7\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ is obtained for this process.
