Measurement of theτ−→K−π0ντbranching fraction

Abstract

A measurement of the ${\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}$ branching fraction has been made using $230.2\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider, located at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC), at a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}$ close to 10.58 GeV. We measure $\mathcal{B}({\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\tau}})=(0.416\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.003(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.018(\mathrm{syst}))%$.
