Abstract
We report on an improved measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa $CP$-violating phase $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ through a Dalitz plot analysis of neutral $D$ meson decays to ${K}_{S}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${K}_{S}^{0}{K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ produced in the processes ${B}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}D{K}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}$, ${B}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{*}{K}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}$ with ${D}^{*}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}D{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$, $D\ensuremath{\gamma}$, and ${B}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}D{K}^{*\ensuremath{\mp}}$ with ${K}^{*\ensuremath{\mp}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}$. Using a sample of $383\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs collected by the BABAR detector, we measure $\ensuremath{\gamma}=(76\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}22\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}5)\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$ (mod 180\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}), where the first error is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic uncertainty, and the third reflects the uncertainty on the description of the Dalitz plot distributions. The corresponding 2-standard-deviation region is $29\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}<\ensuremath{\gamma}<122\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$. This result has a significance of direct $CP$ violation ($\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\ne}0$) of 3.0 standard deviations.
