Measurement of branching ratio andBs0lifetime in the decayBs0→J/ψf0(980)at CDF

Abstract
We present a study of ${B}_{s}^{0}$ decays to the $CP$-odd final state $J/\ensuremath{\psi}{f}_{0}(980)$ with $J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${f}_{0}(980)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$. Using $p\overline{p}$ collision data with an integrated luminosity of $3.8\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ collected by the CDF II detector at the Tevatron we measure a ${B}_{s}^{0}$ lifetime of $\ensuremath{\tau}({B}_{s}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}{f}_{0}(980))={1.70}_{\ensuremath{-}0.11}^{+0.12}(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.03(\mathrm{syst})\mathrm{ps}$. This is the first measurement of the ${B}_{s}^{0}$ lifetime in a decay to a $CP$ eigenstate and corresponds in the standard model to the lifetime of the heavy ${B}_{s}^{0}$ eigenstate. We also measure the product of branching fractions of ${B}_{s}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}{f}_{0}(980)$ and ${f}_{0}(980)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ relative to the product of branching fractions of ${B}_{s}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\phi}$ and $\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ to be ${R}_{{f}_{0}/\ensuremath{\phi}}=0.257\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.020(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.014(\mathrm{syst})$, which is the most precise determination of this quantity to date.
