Abstract
Using a data sample of $1.31\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{9}$ $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ events accumulated with the BESIII detector, the decay $J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\phi}$ is studied via two decay modes, $\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{K}_{L}^{0}$ and $\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$. The branching fraction of $J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\phi}$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\phi})=[5.23\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.06(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.33(\mathrm{syst})]\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$, which agrees well with a previously published measurement, but with a significantly improved precision. No evident enhancement near the $p\overline{p}$ mass threshold, denoted as $X(p\overline{p})$, is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction of $J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X(p\overline{p})\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\phi}$ is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X(p\overline{p})\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\phi})<2.1\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}7}$ at the 90% confidence level.
