Abstract
In recent years, traveling wave method has been widely used in transmission line fault location and widely recognized. It is important to improve the performance of measuring equipment to reduce the systematic errors, but innovative computational method to eliminate the calculation errors is equally important. There are mainly two ways in the calculation of traveling wave method fault location, the wavelets analysis method and the correlation coefficient method. According to some literatures, the latter is more accuracy than the former. When calculated in this way, we encountered some difficulties. So the authors introduced their new maximum correlation coefficient method to make calculation, in order to find out the most suitable length of comparison points and get the most accurate positioning results. After an experiment of adding 60db white Gauss noise to the simulation data, the accuracy of this method still holds, that will be a tremendous progress in traveling wave position calculation.
