Token-passing linear dynamic quota function and its quality
2002Vol. 2, pp. 1073–1076
Abstract
Some previously proposed token passing LAN standards, such as the the IEEE802.4 token bus standard and the FDDI token ring standard, employ a cycle-dependent timing mechanism to control station access to the channel. We propose more generalized quota functions, based on the quota function used in the distributed timing algorithm of the IEEE802.4 token bus protocol, called the linear dynamic quota functions. We analyse the new quota functions in detail. The analysis and simulation results show that by using this new quota function, a token-passing LAN can provide a more favourable performance for the priority scheme.
