Abstract
Merkel cell carcinoma, polyomavirus, p16, human papillomavirus, squamous cell carcinoma Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare aggressive skin cancer that mostly affects elderly Caucasian and immunocompromised patients. 1,2 It typically presents as a painless flesh colored papule or nodule on sun-exposed skin. The head and neck region is most frequently affected, followed by upper and lower extremities.
