Abstract
Optical spectra in the 1.5 to 3.2 eV range are studied in the layered compound WSe 2 by wavelength and temperature-modulated reflectivity, as well as by modulated photovoltaic effect from 4.1 to 300 K. The selection rules for optical transitions in WSe 2 are deduced, and the spectra are interpreted with the help of the known band structure of the isomorphous compound MoS 2 .The parameters of the A exciton series are determined, and the temperature shift of the main spectral structures is studied.
