THE ACTIVATION ENERGY FOR THE RECOMBINATION OF TRIFLUOROMETHYL RADICALS
Canadian Journal of Chemistry1960Vol. 38(2), pp. 182–186
Abstract
By photolyzing mixtures of acetone and hexafluoroacetone, and measuring the rates of formation of the three ethanes, we have found [Formula: see text] which means that the activation energy for the recombination of CF 3 radicals is 2140 ± 200 cal, assuming zero activation energies for the other two radical recombinations, and that none of the ethanes is formed except by radical recombination.
