Abstract
A method is presented to calculate hydrodynamic forces on a ship moving with constant rudder angle. The hydrodynamic force characteristics calculated for two VLCC tankers with mariner rudder agree well with the model experiments. The present method is useful for predicting the effective rudder forces of actual ships in view of practical purposes.
