Abstract
Abstract Laboratory evaluation of the effectiveness of spotting fluids in freeing differentially stuck pipe has been conducted in a specially designed simulator at temperatures ranging from 21.1°C (70°F) to 121.1°C (250°F). Conclusions are made from the data presented which establish the mechanism by which spotting fluids free stuck pipe. These results bear on the application of spotting fluids in field operations.
