Application of Amberlite Xe-270 resin to purification of neptunium
1973
Abstract
Ambertite XE-270, a macroretiout ar weak-base -. ion exchange resin made by the Rohm and Haas Company, was used successfuZZy over an eight-month period in ' the Hanford Purex ptant to purify about eight kg of neptunium-23 7. DetaZs of the ptant experience as weZZ as the many Zaboratory-sc ate tests which preceded ptant-scate operation are described. For 237 routine purificati on of Np the Ambertite XE-270 resin provides four important advantages over con-ventionaZ mieroreticuZar strong base resins used heretofore: e Greatty improved thorium decontamination performance.e A much sharper neptunium eZution band.
