Abstract
An interdisciplinary team served as consultants to an analytical formula outlined in this atlas to manage the Earth wisely so as to prevent its and our own demise. It reminds us that Earth is a living planet composed of numerous interconnected parts. Considerable environmental data statistical predictions and sometimes opposing opinions and solutions are organized into an easy logical framework. This framework allows us to scrutinize any crucial area of concern and to consider what it provides use; the where how and why things are not working; and how things can be put back on course using a variety of strategies. The following are discussed: land ocean elements evolution humankind civilization and management. Each is reflected upon from the perspective of potential resources crises and management alternatives. For example humankind covers people potential the world at work Homo sapiens and a sense of identity under the topic of potential human resources. The crisis for humankind is summed up as the inability to participate. This topic includes the numbers game the work famine sickness and stress the literacy chasm and outcasts and refugees. The management alternatives section is entitled Managing Ourselves. In the segment concerning managing numbers the atlas addresses the interaction between improved health care rising employment and income provision of family planning services womens status education literacy and population growth. It also discusses the continual inequality of women in the world. It even deals with the need for global health care via the primary health care strategy especially in developing countries. It also addresses the need for people to be employed in and involved with their communities. The preservation of cultural diversity is also advocated.
