Research on the Cultivation Model of Interdisciplinary Reading Competence in Business English in AGI Era
Abstract
The integration of generative AI with traditional Business English reading is reshaping instructional approaches, refining Human-AI collaboration, and creating both opportunities and challenges for interdisciplinary competence development. In response, we propose a cultivation model grounded in Dodge’s WebQuest framework. The model comprises: (1) a “Human-AI Symbiosis” paradigm for teaching practice; (2) a triadic “Teacher-Student-AI” relationship with a five‑step iterative cycle; and (3) a full‑process “Human-AI Symbiosis” framework for reading teaching. AI is judiciously integrated in every step of interdisciplinary Business English reading. Through an HI-AI cyclic mechanism, the model deepens the integration of AI and reading practice, enhancing students’ interdisciplinary reading competence and fostering the coordinated growth of technological literacy and critical thinking. It provides a practical reference for talent cultivation and instructional design in international Business English, while strengthening the systematicity and methodological rigor of Business English reading pedagogy.
