Flow Visualization on Rising Current Produced by V-Shaped Structure.
Journal of the Visualization Society of Japan1998Vol. 18(68), pp. 40–45
Abstract
Strong rising current produced by a V-shaped structure settled in horizontal flow was studied. The flow mechanism of creation of strong pair vortices by the V-shaped structure and their rising process were visualized by dye. Velocity distributions of pair vortices and rising currents were measured experimentally. Experimental measurements on rising speed of pair vortices and theoretical results calculated assuming self-induced speed by pair vortices presented a good comparison. Experimental studies were also conducted under the various angle, height and length of V-shaped structure. Effective scales and aspect ratio were discussed and determined from experimental results.
