Abstract
The Mediterranean Forest Research Agenda 2030 (MFRA 2030) constitutes a timely review \nof the past decade's achievements against the previous research priorities and at the same \ntime looks to where attention should focus for the next ten years. Some thematic areas from \nthe MFRA 2020 have made significant progress thanks to the MFRA spotlights, while others \nwarrant continued attention and were included in the MFRA 2030 considering the magnitude \nof work that still needs to be done. \nWe expect that the MFRA 2030 will spur researchers and practitioners into further action, \nand will also serve as a reference for policymakers and funding agencies to support global \nefforts to strengthen Mediterranean forests’ resilience in the face of climate and biodiversity \ncrises, new social demands and demographic challenges. Furthermore, if Mediterranean-like \nconditions expand to large parts of adjacent areas, as predicted by climate scientists, the \nMFRA 2030 will become relevant for an even wider community of stakeholders.
