Abstract
The existence of Diauehi Kingdom, located in the Northeast Anatolia, is known due to its relations with Urartian State.Different views still exist among the historians in respect to its geographical location. While some historians believe that it was located in the area where Çoruh River emerges, others argue that it starts from Çoruh region and extends to the Alpaslan CEYLAN / KAÜSBED, 2017; 20; 517-568 518 Black Sea region. However, most of the historians tend to believe that its actual location is between Erzurum and the area where Çoruh River springs. In general, it can be stated that the area between Erzurum-Aşkale and Kars-Sarıkamış is the place which can be called the Diauehi region.Tiglath-Pleser I, an Assyrian King, narrates his military expedition in the inscription called The Prism.According to the inscription, the Assyrian king, Tiglath-Pleser I expresses that he beat 23 kings of Nairi from Tumme to Diauehi. It is also known from the Assyrian records that Salmanassar III, another Assyrian king, launched military expeditions to the region as well. The conflict between Diauehi and Urartian State is highly significant in terms of its historical meaning.During the era of the founder kings of Urartian Kingdom, the Urartians started to pay attention to the region and organised military expeditions to the Northeast Anatolia region. It is a fact that that Urartian kings, Menua and Argišti, embarked military expeditions on the Diauehi region. In the light of these expeditions, the inscriptions in the area give reference to Şaşilu, the capital of Diauehi, and its king, Utupurşi.The names of Şeşeti state, one of the mandates of Diauehi Kingdom, and Zua, Baltulhi and Haldiriulhi states are also mentioned in the inscriptions Thanks to the surface studies, which have been conducted in the Northeast Anatolia since 1998 non ceasingly, have obtained invaluable information about Diauehi and Urartian states. This report is an evaluation of the data gathered.
