Abstract
A chiral aluminophosphate, d-Co(en)3·Al3P4O16·3H2O, has been synthesized using optically pure d-Co(en)33+ as a templating agent (en = 1,2-diaminoethane). The structure of the material has been determined from a small single crystal using synchrotron radiation and imaging plate detection. The aluminophosphate contains chiral macroanionic sheets similar to those previously reported in trans-Co(dien)2·Al3P4O16·xH2O (dien = diethylenetriamine). Co(C2N2H8)3·Al3P4O16·3H2O, Mr = 754.1, orthorhombic, C2221, a = 8.502(6) Å, b = 14.620(6) Å, c = 20.890(11) Å, V = 2597(3) Å3, Z = 4, ρcalc = 1.929 g cm-3, ρobs = 1.95 g cm-3, λ = 1.2007(5) Å, μ = 9.389 mm-1, F(000) = 1526, T = 293 K, RF = 0.084 for 872 reflections I > 2σ(I).
