Abstract
In this paper, we propose two useful estimators of the population mean employing the known population median of the study variable. We study properties like bias and mean squared error (MSE) of the sampling distribution of the suggested estimators. We obtain the least MSEs for the optimum values of the constants involved in the proposed estimators and compare them with the competing ratio estimators of the population mean using the auxiliary information. The results of the numerical analysis show that for optimal conditions, the suggested ratio type estimators are more efficient than competing regression and ratio type estimators.
