Game Development and Design: Principles and Practice
Abstract
Game development and design is a complex and multi-disciplinary field that involves a range of creative and technical skills. To create a successful video game, designers and developers must work together to ensure that the game is both enjoyable and functional. One of the most important aspects of game development and design is gameplay mechanics. This refers to the rules, objectives, and interactions that make up the core of the game. Game development and design also involves a range of tools and technologies. Game engines such as Unity and Unreal Engine are commonly used to create and develop video games. Programming languages such as C++ and Java are used to write the code that powers the game. Graphics and animation software such as Maya and Photoshop are used to create the game’s visual elements, while audio software such as Pro Tools is used to create sound effects and music. Monetization strategies are an important consideration in game development and design.
